International Reggae DJ Chris Goldfinger will be gracing the booth at MVP on Friday 7th August to celebrate Jamaican Independence Day.
The Radio 1 talent – a close friend of Owner Robin Lyle – will be hosting the Reggae Night alongside DJ’s Crucial Robbie, King Alfred and DJ Limit. In addition, bar staff have concocted a special rum punch cocktail for the occasion and jerk chicken will be on offer to commemorate the Jamaican theme.
Since his first gig in Jamaica in 1985 with a sound called Soul Symphony Disco, Chris earned the title “Goldfinger” after playing in St. Catherine, Jamaica one night and mixing two totally different records to make one incredible beat. Now he is widely followed on BBC Radio 1 on his Sunday show from midnight and until 2am on Monday playing a mix of reggae dancehall.
Admission will be £5 before 12 and more after, and management are encouraging customers to wear their country colours – no matter where you’re from.
Following the success of MVP’s first comedy event last month, the Jamaican Independence Day celebrations will continue with a special Comedy Show headed up by award winning comedian and radio presenter Geoff Schumann on Saturday 8th August.
Geoff began his comedy career in 1993 after joining a community radio show and progressing to host his own slot on Choice FM. In 2001, Schumann won an award at the Black Comedy Awards before contributing material towards Sky 1’s Celebrities Behaving Badly and appearing in both The Bill and Casualty.
Talented comedians Donna Spence, Toju, Little Man and Nabil Abdul Rashid will all be delivering stand up slots on the night too.
Owner of MVP Robin Lyle said: “As promised, we are continuing to deliver unique entertainment and bring big names to Luton. Both Chris Goldfinger and Geoff Schumann are fantastic entertainers and extremely gifted at their individual talents – we’re expecting a full house on both nights and looking forwarded to an exciting weekend for MVP.”
Admission will be £7 and tickets can be bought in advance for both events at the venue or by calling the club on 01582 424954.
